Last week I had two different people on two different days ask me about the best way to start running. I get this question occasionally (wait, no. More often I tend to like to just offer my answer to this question without it ever being asked because I get wiggly-puppy excited to talk to people about how they too can become runners) and I realized that while I have one answer – mine – I don’t have the answer. In fact, I’m pretty certain there isn’t just one answer…starting to run, staying on course, and keeping with it (or sometimes just coming back to it) is a journey that differs from person to person.
With this idea in mind, I realized my own story likely does not resonate with everyone out there seeking to become a runner, to start running, or who is looking for advice, inspiration, motivation, or a how-to when it comes to getting their running on. So I reached out to my runningly/writerly friends (some people who I know run, or have run, or sometimes likes to run, and who also might be willing to put a few words down on virtual paper for this cause) for their stories, things they wish they had known, and what keeps them pumped up so ya’ll (the readers of Runner’s Delight) can hear a more well rounded set of advice on this topic.
The next few posts will feature a variety of guest bloggers – got at least four lined up right now, and hopefully more to come – who will cover info they wish they had been told, info they wish they had not been told, how they started running, obstacles they overcame, their advice, and their ideas on the art of running. Looking forward to this? Me too!
