About three weeks ago, Ken started occasionally joining me on my runs. At first, he was good for about a mile of running, and then would walk, and then we’d run walk until we got home. With a bit of asthma and definitely not a regular cardio routine, this wasn’t unexpected. But what happened next was.
In week two, he was already running over a mile and a half before he’d want to stop. We were at the same pace (a bit under my usual pace) but he was easily upping his distances. There was still some walking, but it was dwindling and not lasting as long.
And now, this past week? Well, we definitely ran three miles consecutively, no walking breaks. We have not yet traversed much in the way of hills, but still. Three miles in three weeks. I’m trying to figure out if he’s the norm, or if he’s an outlier.
Pretty soon he might actually enjoy running without me.
