One reason I love running city streets are the pedestrians and residential folks who like to call out to runners. Today as I headed down a hill, a mid-forties guy standing outside his convertible said, “How far you going today?”
I replied, “About six miles.”
Without missing a beat he said, “That’s all?”
I could hear his chuckling as I continued down the hill.
Then there was the guy who stuck his head out of a Corolla and yelled “WOOOOOOOO-HOOOO!!!!!” as he passed. I like encouragement. And random acts of cheering? I’m in.
The only negative caller I had today was a girl who poked her head out the window and purposefully made a noise that scared me. And even that was amusing in its own right, since I did not lose my balance. Just kids having fun.
